Hanging of the Greens
November 28th, 5pm
First Presbyterian Church has a wonderful tradition of kicking off Advent Season with a “Hanging of the Greens” celebration. Our Sanctuary will be beautifully decorated, bagpipers will lead us in song and the children’s choirs will sing. Our annual “Blessing of the Newborns” will also take place. All are invited to join us for a cookie and wassail reception following the service in the Fellowship Hall. We need lots of cookies! Please bring a dozen cookies to share and drop them off in the servery on that Sunday morning. We look forward to sharing this tradition with you, and don’t forget to invite a friend to this family friendly service!

Annual Christmas Concert
December 12th at 4pm
Join us for a memorable concert of Christmas music, both traditional favorites and new works, featuring the Cathedral Choir and orchestra.

Journey to Bethlehem
Advent Experience on Wednesday Evenings
(December 1st, 8th, 15th) at 6:30pm
Join church family and friends to experience Advent messages shared through Scripture, art, literature, music and the chance to participate in meaningful mission opportunities to love our neighbor. Also, during the month of December, the two advent programs (Wednesdays and Sundays) will take the place of regularly scheduled groups, studies and classes. Groups, studies and classes will resume in January.

Discovering the Meaning of Advent
Sundays at 9:45am (December 5th, 11th, 19th) in Chapel In The Sky
Church wide invitation to join fellow members and friends as we take a look at the art, music and traditions that have shaped our Advent practices throughout history.

Adult Activity Center for Senior Adults (AAC)
Bring a friend and join us at AAC  on Thursday, December 2nd. ‘Tis the Season Holiday Show with Lyn Baldwin. This will be our SERRV Holiday Market day, get a head start on your Christmas shopping! Menu selection is Chicken Marsala, cost: $10. RSVP: Laura Ziegler 954.598.9312 or

Surviving the Holidays
December 4th, 10am-12pm in the Study & Renewal Center,

Advent begins Nov. 28th and we are in need of families or individuals to light the candles on our Advent Wreaths at each of our weekly worship services (8:30 am & 11:00 am) on December 5th, 12th and 19th, as well as at the 5 pm, 8 pm, and 10 pm Christmas Eve services on Friday, December 24th.  Please email Michelle Shev at as soon as possible to reserve your service – first come, first served!

Congregational Care provides support, comfort, prayer and love during difficult times. At First Presbyterian Church of Fort Lauderdale, we believe in the power of caring and its ability to bring our faith alive. Whether you are in need of a little extra support or are facing a life challenge, you are not alone. Our staff and volunteers are devoted to walking with our community through their difficult seasons or with anyone in need of comfort and support.
