The Membership Ministry
Seekers and Joiners Class
As a new member of First Church, we strongly encourage you to take a two-part class offered three times a year that focuses on what we believe as Presbyterians, how we are alike and different from other churches, how we govern ourselves, what ministries we offer and how to connect in the life of our church. Please see the current Journey Handbook to find out the particulars on this class, when and where they will meet, etc. This class is open to all new members and church visitors as well.
Introduction to the Congregation
We have set aside the third Sunday of every other month to introduce and welcome our newest church family members. To mark this special day as new members, you will be presented with a Certificate of Membership and a devotional Bible.
New Member Introductions to the Congregation and Receptions
Four times a year, new members are introduced to the congregation during a worship service on Sunday morning. All new members will be advised as to when this will take place so they can arrange to join us at worship and at a reception immediately following the service. They will each be presented with a Certificate of Membership and a new Bible.

The Evangelism Ministry
Have you ever longed for one of your friends or family members to come to know God but you didn’t know how to help? You are not the only one and yet knowing how to help may be one of the most important things you ever learn. For coming to know Christ is the most important decision a person will ever make. The decision to believe and follow in the footsteps of Jesus is life-changing and has eternal consequences - but the facts are that few people will decide to follow Jesus on their own.
For most of us, one or more people are influential in our decision. They may be friends, relatives, even writers of books. No matter what the case Christian evangelism is when we bring people to a place where they can encounter the love of God through Christ’s Spirit. It is connecting God’s people in an intentional, but authentic and caring way, to a body of believers, as they explore the depths of Christianity and a relationship with Him.

A focus for the Evangelism Ministry is to create awareness inside and outside the church through relational events, heightened communication efforts and participation in community activities. All for the chance to help people grow hearts that respond to God’s love, and in time through long-term church involvement, live a life for Christ.
